Reset-N was founded in 1995 by Takahiro NATSUI, who is a playwright & director.
The company was highly evaluated for the script depicting Tokyo in sincerity and radical space creation.
In 1999, Natsui won "THE 4TH JAPAN PLAYWRIGHTS ASSOCIATION AWARD FOR NEWCOMER" with play "knob". Since then, the play has been frequently produced and performed by many theatre companies in Japan.
In 2000, The company's production "LOCK" was invited and performed at TOGA SUMMER ARTS PROGRAM 2000 IN TOYAMA,
and the performance of the play in Tokyo won a prize of "ARTS FESTIVAL FOR TOKYO THOUSAND YEAR".
In 2001, English version of Natsui's play "Dawn/Rei-Mei" was premiered at Etcetera Theatre in LONDON.
In 2002, both English & Japanese versions of the play performed in Tokyo at the same time together.
And in the year 2006, reset-N produced "Adagios" with Le Théâtre de Ajmer in MARSEILLE.
"Adagios" was premiered in Tokyo & performed at Marseille as well, which the production received sensationally by audience in both cities.
In the beginning, the motif of reset-N was to thrust LOVE, DESPAIR & MADNESS of modern young people in the city,
though nowadays, reset-N made some pieces based on the STRONG SKEPTICISM TO CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY.
As examples, the production "Rose" expressed Tokyo, after bombing like Iraq.
"La penseé2006" was the story of a journalist who burned himself.
Besides Natsui's plays, reset-N produced E.Albee & E.Ionesco's play.
And the company created theatre piece of "NAKED LUNCH", a novel written by W.S.Burroughs, as its WORLD PREMIERE.
Also reset-N created a new version of "THE MARTIAN CRONICLES (R.Bradbury)" which was highly successful production.
The feature of reset-N is strong tension based on the idea of modern arts & modern literature.
In recent years, reset-N has created some enthusiastic works at the prestigious theatres like THE SUZUNARI, & THEATRE TRAM.
Reset-N is expected as a new leading company of the next generation.
At present, Natsui is staying in Marseille with JAPANESE GOVERNMENT OVERSEAS STUDY PROGRAMME FOR ARTISTS, until August 2007.
He is planning to write new piece called "MAYU/COCOON".
